LVST Big

LSVT BIG is an exercise program designed for Parkinson's patients, addressing the disease's progression involving diminished movements and increased difficulty in daily activities. This tailored treatment retrains the brain for larger, more controlled movements. Customizable based on the disease's stage, it's beneficial at any point, as starting early can significantly preserve mobility and slow down progression. The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke highlights the importance of early intervention, emphasizing that beginning the program at diagnosis helps retain mobility effectively.

Physical Therapy

Your physical therapy session will begin with a thorough evaluation/examination in which measurements of range of motion, strength, and functional movements are assessed, discussed, and documented.  Your physical therapy treatment sessions are based on the findings of your evaluation as well as your functional goals for returning to activities. Your treatment sessions may include manual therapy, modalities, therapeutic exercises/activities, neuromuscular facilitation, and correcting functional movement deficits. **some insurance(s) allow physical therapy without a script. IASTM

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is a treatment using an approved specially designed instrument for myofascial restriction.  Your Physical Therapist has undergone specific training and spent years learning proper techniques to improve the mobility of your fascia (connective tissue) using IASTM to stimulate specific fascia chains to help with pain reduction and improved functional movement patterns.

Kinesio/Rock Taping

Athletic taping a non-elastic that when properly applied, provides a neuromuscular stimulation and re-training of proper movement. By providing stability and restricting movement, the tape lifts the skin and fascia which allows improved lymphatic mobility for edema reduction as well as decreased pain and correcting functional movement patterns.

Vertigo

Vertigo, characterized by dizziness and imbalance, encompasses symptoms like the room spinning, ringing in the ears, nausea, vomiting, and lightheadedness. Various factors contribute to dizziness, necessitating diagnostic tests from a physician to pinpoint the cause. Treatment options range from simple maneuvers, like the Epley maneuver for Benign Proximal Positional Vertigo, to habituation activities and eye exercises to retrain the brain and improve ocular movements. Your physical therapist conducts a thorough examination to tailor a treatment plan, maximizing positive outcomes for your specific condition.

Manual  Therapy

Incorporating various manual therapy techniques, your physical therapist determines the most appropriate approach for your needs. Techniques such as Myofascial Manipulation stimulate the release of hyaluronic acid, enhancing connective tissue movement. Soft Tissue Mobilization and Trigger Point Release address muscle balance and hypersensitive areas, while Muscle Energy Technique and Joint Mobilization normalize joint motion. Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) utilizes specialized tools for improved mobility. Lymphatic Drainage focuses on enhancing lymphatic movement, and Microcurrent Point Stimulation introduces micro-currents to alleviate stress, reduce pain, and accelerate healing. These diverse manual therapies are carefully tailored to maximize the effectiveness of your treatment plan.

Lymphedema

Lymphedema, abnormal swelling in various body parts, may result from multiple factors such as heart failure, venous insufficiency, or surgical interventions. It is crucial to consult a physician for diagnostic tests to determine the cause before initiating therapy. Treatment, tailored to individual mobility levels and the swelling's origin, is essential for effective management. Certified lymphedema therapists from reputable programs play a vital role in reducing the risk of complications, including infection, skin breakdown, increased swelling, and damage to lymph vessels and the vascular system.
